Description:
Seeking an experienced PhD or MD-PhD for a Post Doctoral fellowship. The post doctoral scholar will work in the Department of Pediatrics Endocrinology at UCLA. Applicants need to have a PhD preferably in biology, physiology, or related field and experience working with tissue culture and mouse models.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Philosophy in Biology or related field of study less than 5 years from completion of PhD
  • Solid understanding of molecular biology and common laboratory approaches in molecular biology
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, works well with others
Skills:
  • DNA, RNA and protein extraction, PCR, western blots, tissue culture (experience with adipocytes preferred)
  • Mouse handling
  • Meticulous laboratory technique
  • Working knowledge of laboratory notebook management and data management
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conducting research as determined with Principal Investigator (PI)
  • Mouse handling, processing of human cells and tissues
  • Publish results of independent laboratory research in collaboration with lab PI, including writing of scientific manuscripts, abstracts and other supporting documentation
  • Participate in laboratory and Divisional seminars, meetings, educational sessions, general and specific safety training and other training sessions
  • Provide mentorship and teaching undergraduate and summer students.
  • Performs other duties and laboratory responsibilities as requested.
