Announcing this summer's Business of Science Course! Sponsored by UC Irvine

Our colleagues at UC Irvine have made space available for UCLA graduate students and postdoctoral scholars to attend the workshop described below for scientists interested in pursuing a career in industry. The course has been offered the past two years and receives rave reviews from UCLA attendees.

Space for UCLA affiliates is limited, so please complete a questionnaire to indicate your interest, and we can notify you if you are selected. Preference will be given to late stage graduate students and postdocs. Please respond by August 31 to receive full consideration.

Limited scholarships may be available to cover the registration fee. Travel expenses including getting to Irvine, an overnight stay, and dinner on each weekend will be the responsibility of the attendee.

For the third year in a row, GPS-BIOMED is happy to bring you The Business of Science: Applying the Scientific Method to Succeed in Diverse Industries. This 32-hour course spans 4 sessions and is led by Randal Ribaudo, Larry Petcovic and Yvonne Klaus, founders of SciPhD. The course draws parallels between the scientific method and decision-making that propels businesses to thrive. You'll learn how to define your value to employers by matching key competencies they seek. Furthermore, you'll be guided on how to dissect a job ad, how to tailor your resume and how to excel in interviews. The course is capped with a networking mixer where attendees meet & mingle with professionals and UCI alumni from local companies.
